Honda launches much-awaited Rebel 500 in India at ₹5.12 lakh: Specs, features and more

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has officially launched the highly anticipated Honda Rebel 500 in India. Priced at ₹5.12 lakh (ex-showroom), the Rebel 500 is now part of Honda's premium BigWing lineup and will be available only through select BigWing Topline dealerships. Customer deliveries are set to begin in June 2025.
A Cruiser That Turns Heads
The Rebel 500 brings a retro-modern cruiser design to Indian roads. With a low seat height of 690mm, it’s designed for easy handling — perfect for new riders and pros alike. Built on a tubular steel frame, it features a bobber-style design, thick tyres, a steeply raked fuel tank, and classic wide handlebars.
Offered in a Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic color, the Rebel 500 includes LED lighting, a round retro headlamp, and an inverted LCD display for essential ride info.
Engine and Performance
Under the hood (or rather, under the tank), the Rebel 500 is powered by a 471cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine, delivering 45.5 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 43.3 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. It’s paired with a 6-speed gearbox for smooth cruising.
For ride quality, Honda has equipped the bike with telescopic front forks and Showa dual shock absorbers at the rear. Safety comes standard with 296mm front and 240mm rear disc brakes, along with dual-channel ABS. It rolls on Dunlop tyres, ensuring a grippy ride.
Honda’s Statement
Speaking on the launch, HMSI’s MD, President, and CEO, Tsutsumu Otani, shared:
“The Rebel 500 is more than just a motorcycle — it’s a statement of style, performance, and freedom. We’re excited to bring this globally loved model to India and are confident it will connect with both new and experienced riders.”
