New Tata Harrier, Safari Petrol Variants Launch Tomorrow: Expected Price, Specs & Mileage
Tata Motors launches the new Harrier and Safari petrol variants tomorrow, featuring a 1.5L turbo engine, expected lower pricing than diesel and 12–14 km/l mileage.
New Tata Harrier and Safari petrol variants debut with a 1.5L turbo engine, offering refined performance and competitive pricing.

Tata Motors is all set to expand its SUV lineup tomorrow by unveiling the long-awaited petrol versions of the Tata Harrier and Tata Safari. Until now, only the diesel engines have been available for the two SUVs, thus making this a huge update for those customers who prefer a smooth and more urban-friendly petrol choice.
New 1.5-Litre Turbo Petrol Engine
The Harrier and Safari petrol variants will be the first to use Tata’s new 1.5-litre TGDi turbo petrol engine, which was developed under the powertrain program Hyperion of the company. The engine is expected to produce about 167.7 hp and 280 Nm of torque, thus becoming a competitor of the current diesel motor in terms of performance.
A 6-speed manual gearbox will be offered as standard and there will also be an option of automatic transmission. The customers can look forward to better refinement, more responsive throttle and noticeably quieter operation especially in city traffic conditions.
Expected Mileage
The petrol variants of Harrier and Safari are going to be able to deliver 12 to 14 km per liter in mixed driving conditions under real-world situations. Although the petrol variants will be less fuel-efficient than the diesel, the factors like better refinement, less noise from the engine and improved cold-start may become strong points for attracting urban buyers.
Pricing & Market Positioning
Tata Motors is expected to set the prices of the petrol versions lower than the diesel ones making it possible for people who have lower budgets to buy the SUVs:
Tata Harrier Petrol: Expected from ₹15 lakh (ex-showroom)
Tata Safari Petrol: Expected from ₹16.5 lakh (ex-showroom)
These two SUVs will be challenging their petrol counterparts like the MG Hector, Hyundai Alcazar, and Mahindra XUV700 with their new petrol options.
Features & Design Remain Unchanged
The gasing variants will be endowed with the same features and gadgets as well as the pop elements of the current diesel versions except for the powertrain.
