Hyderabad Morris Garages, better known as MG, is ready to launch its mid-size SUV Astor in India on October 11, 2021. The vehicle was last showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo.

In the international market, the MG Astor is available with two engine options including a 1.5-litre VTi motor and a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol motor. The former is capable of producing 118bhp and 150Nm of torque, while the latter is tuned to produce 161bhp and 230Nm of torque. The MG Astor comes with a host of segment-first features to take an advantage over its rivals such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun and Renault Duster in the highly competitive midsize SUV space. The Astor will firmly rival these models as it measures 4.3 metres in length compared to its slightly bigger sibling MG Hector.

The top-spec variants features a AI-based voice assistant, Jio e-SIM connectivity, latest i-Smart tech, segment-first radar-based driver-assistive features like Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). The equipment list of the car comprises a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, panoramic sunroof, leather seats, EPB, TPMS, 360-degree camera, Normal, Urban and Dynamic drive modes, six airbags, ESP, TC, BA, EBD, LED headlights, LED Daytime Running Lights, and so on.

The M-SUV is likely to be priced aggressively against other midsize SUV rivals in the price range between Rs11 lakh and Rs18 lakh (ex-showroom).
