Mahindra and Mahindra on Sunday reported a solid performance in May 2025, with overall auto sales reaching 84,110 units -- a 17 per cent increase compared to May 2024. The figure includes both domestic and export markets, highlighting the company’s continued momentum across product segments. The SUV segment played a major role in this growth. Mahindra sold 52,431 SUVs in the domestic market in May, marking a strong 21 per cent year-on-year (YoY) rise. Including exports, total SUV sales stood at 54,819 units, showcasing the popularity of Mahindra’s utility vehicles both in India and abroad. Year-to-date (YTD) numbers further underscore Mahindra’s growth story. The company has seen a 24 per cent rise in UV sales, reaching 104,761 units, along with a 55 per cent jump in exports compared to the same period last year.

Toyota sales up 22% to 30,864 units

New Delhi: Toyota Kirloskar Motor on Sunday said its sales increased 22 per cent year-on-year to 30,864 units in May. The company's wholesales to dealers in the domestic market stood at 29,280 units last month while exports were at 1,584 units. In May 2024, TKM had sold a total of 25,273 units. "With the onset of monsoon and forecasts indicating a normal to above-normal season, we remain optimistic about improved market sentiment in the coming months, particularly across rural and semi-urban regions," Varinder Wadhwa, Vice President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business, said in a statement.

TVS Motor sales up 17% to 4,31,275 units

New Delhi: TVS Motor Company on Sunday reported a 17 per cent year-on-year increase in total sales to 4,31,275 units in May.

The company had reported a total sales of 3,69,914 units in May 2024. Two-wheelers registered a growth of 16 per cent, with sales increasing from 3,59,590 units in May 2024 to 4,16,166 units in May 2025, TVS Motor Company said in a statement. The domestic two-wheeler segment registered a growth of 14 per cent with sales increasing from 2,71,140 units in May last year to 3,09,287 units in May 2025, it added. Three-wheeler sales increased 46 per cent year-on-year to 15,109 units in May.

Tata Motors reports 9% dip in sales

New Delhi: Tata Motors on Sunday reported a 9 per cent year-on-year decline in total sales at 70,187 units in May.

The Mumbai-based auto major had reported total sales of 76,766 units in May 2024. Domestic sales declined 10 per cent year-on-year to 67,429 units, as compared to 75,173 units in the year-ago period Tata Motors said in a statement. Total passenger vehicle sales declined 11 per cent year-on-year to 42,040 units in May. Commercial vehicles sales stood at 28,147 units, as compared to 29,691 units, a dip of 5 per cent.
