Ducati Monster 2021 rides into India: What it offers?
The new Monster gets a 937cc L- twin engine which churns 111 hp at 9,250 rpm with maximum torque of 93 nm delivered at just 6,500 rpm, proving to be efficient and reactive in throttle response.
Hyderabad Ducati, an Italian motorcycle brand launched its much-awaited 2021 Monster range in India. It represents all the essence of Ducati in the lightest, most compact and essential form possible. The recipe of the bike is the same as it was in 1993, a sporty engine, that is perfect for road use, combined with a superbike-derived frame.
What's on offer
The new Monster gets a 937cc L- twin engine which churns 111 hp at 9,250 rpm with maximum torque of 93 nm delivered at just 6,500 rpm, proving to be efficient and reactive in throttle response. The new engine increases in displacement, power, torque and decreases in weight (-2.4 kg) to contribute to the lightness of the bike and offers a vastly better riding experience. The torque is improved at all revs, particularly in the medium-low range, most used on the road and between corners. This guarantees thrilling performance as well as riding ease and pleasure, also supported by the new gearbox and the Ducati quick shift up or down fitted as standard.
The standard equipment includes ABS Cornering, Traction Control and Wheelie Control, all adjustable to different levels of intervention. The sporty character of the bike is denoted via the Launch Control, which ensures lightning-fast starts. This electronic equipment also allows in expressing the performance of the bike with a high level of active safety.
The new Monster is equipped with three Riding Modes, the Sport, Urban, and Touring, that allow to shape the character of the bike according to different riding preferences and needs. Everything is managed via the handlebar controls and the bike now features a new 4.3-inch colour TFT dashboard featuring racing graphics inspired by the Panigale V4, with a large rev counter that shows the gear position as well.
To stand out from the crowd
The design is completely new, with a muscular fuel tank, that sports even more muscle than before, and an oval shaped LED headlight, with sweeping turn indicators mounted beneath the fuel tank covers. The 43 mm upside down fork is non-adjustable, while the rear shock is adjustable for only preload. The 17-inch cast aluminium wheels are shod with Pirelli Diablo Rosso tyres, while braking duties are handled by Brembo M4.32 callipers gripping 320 mm semi-floating discs, and a two-piston calliper gripping a 245 mm rear disc.
Dynamics
One of the most distinguishing features of the Monster's design, and structure is a lighter aluminium front frame, which sheds 4.5 kg over the previous generation Monster's frame. Also contributing to lighter weight of the new bike are lightweight cast-aluminium wheels, a redesigned dual-sided swingarm and a redesigned rear subframe which uses Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) technology. The height of the seat from the ground is 820 mm. This, combined with the narrow sides of the bike, allows the rider to put his or her feet on the ground easily.
Overall, the bike weighs 18 kg less than the previous generation Monster 821 at just 188kg.

The bike is available in monster red colour with black wheels which is priced at Rs 10,99,000, the dark stealth with black wheels is at Rs 11,09,000, the aviator grey with GP red wheels is at Rs 11,09,000.
