Hyderabad Leading car manufacturer Maruti-Suzuki has launched the all-new budget hatchback Celerio at a starting price of Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The car is available in four variants like LXI, VXI, ZXI, and ZXI+. In addition to existing colour options such as arctic white, silky silver, glistening grey, and caffeine brown, the vehicle is now available in two new colour options of solid fire red and speedy blue. The Engine

Under the hood, The New-Gen Celerio is powered by the new K10C Dual Jet 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with segment first idle start and stop system. This engine produces 66hp and 89Nm of torque and comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. The hatchback is designed to be a commuter beast with excellent mileage outputs. The car maker claims that the new Celerio has the highest fuel efficiency figure of 26.68kpl in its class (VXi AMT variant). The ZXi and ZXi+ AMT deliver 26kpl, LXi gives 25.24kpl and the VXi, ZXi and ZXI+ MT give 24.97kpl.

How does it look?

The new Celerio measures 3,695mm in length, 1,655mm in width, 1,555mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,435mm, ground clearance stands at 170mm, making it cross high breakers with ease. The improved length and wheelbase make way for spacious cabin which gives better leg room even for taller persons.

At front and back, the 3D organic sculpted design, front radiant grille design with sharp chrome accents make the Celerio truly standout from the competition.

Cabin features

Just like the exterior, the interior of the new Celerio has been completely revamped. As we get into the cabin the first thing which stands out is the new seven-inch touchscreen with Maruti's smart-play studio system, a first for the Celerio. The touchscreen is flanked by vertical AC vents on either side. The cabin has an all-black theme but is contrasted well with faux aluminium accents on the steering wheel, AC vents and centre console. The new model gets Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, push button start and stop, electrically adjustable outer rear-view mirrors, keyless entry, voice recognition, auto up and down for driver's window, steering-mounted controls, 60:40 rear split seats and more.

However, the Celerio gets manual air conditioning even on its top-spec trim. Safety features on the new Celerio include dual airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, rear parking sensors, speed sensitive door lock and even hill hold assist for the automatic variants.

Pricing

The base model of the new Celerio comes at Rs 4,99,000 (LXI 1L ISS 5MT) and moves up to Rs 6,94,000 for the top model (ZXI+ 1L).

The hatchback rivals with likes of Tata Tiago, Datsun GO, and Hyundai Santro, apart from these it also rivals with the company's own Maruti Suzuki Wagon R which has seen some over whelming response from the public post its redesigning.
