MG Motor India has rolled out the 2026 Hector facelift, a move that is sure to bring in more buyers for the already popular SUV. The new look Hector now has a price tag of Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory), the price being Rs 2.1 lakh less than the outgoing model.

MG has not only brought out the 5-seater Hector but also the Hector Plus 7-seater, which comes with a starting price of Rs 17.29 lakh. The 6-seater variant prices will be disclosed later.

Currently, MG has announced the prices only for the petrol versions and the diesel variants are probably going to be added to the line-up in 2026.

New Pricing Makes Hector More Competitive

Pricing across the range has undergone a major overhaul by MG. The Style MT petrol variant entry-level has now a new price of Rs 11.99 lakh, while the higher trims Select Pro, Smart Pro, and Sharp Pro, etc., are also lesser than before. The Savvy Pro CVT, the top-spec variant, is priced at Rs 18.99 lakh, which is almost Rs 1.77 lakh lesser than the previous version.

The standard model of the Hector Plus is priced higher in comparison to the 7-seater variants of the Plus which range between Rs 17.29 lakh and Rs 19.49 lakh.

2026 MG Hector Facelift: Exterior Updates

The newly designed Hector keeps its assertive design but comes with some subtle changes. The large front grille has now been reworked and has a honeycomb-style pattern that is quite different from the previous diamond-shaped one. The air vent, the rear bumper, and the 18-inch alloy wheels have also gone through a makeover making the SUV look new.

The lighting setup has not been changed, so the split headlamp design and LED elements connecting the tail-lamps are still there. The color palette has been extended by MG with the addition of Celadon Blue and Pearl White along with the existing shades of Aurora Silver, Starry Black, and Glaze Red.

Interior & Features: Tech Takes Centre Stage

The new Hector model prioritizes comfort and technology inside. The 5-seater Hector comes with the dual-tone Ice Grey interior while the Hector Plus has a deluxe tan dual-tone cabin.

The centerpiece of the interior is the newly launched 14-inch portrait-style infotainment system which has been powered with MG's iSwipe touch gesture control technology. This enables users to alter climate conditions through two-finger movements or audio settings through three fingers making it feel like an experience that is powered by technology.

The features are similar to those of the previous model such as a digital driver's display, front ventilated seats, a 6-way power-adjustable driver seat, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, PM 2.5 air filter, push-button start, and a 360-degree camera.

Engine and Transmission Options

The facelifted Hector model mechanically remains the same as its predecessor. It comes in petrol variants that come with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with 143hp and 250Nm output, mated either to a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT.

The diesel variant which is expected to be introduced next year would, however, continue with the 2.0-litre engine producing 170hp and 350Nm. In terms of gearboxes, the outgoing model offered only one option—a manual gearbox—while MG is speculating to introduce an automatic option; however, there is still no official word on this.

Rivals in the Segment

The 2026 MG Hector won't have problems competing with SUVs like the Tata Harrier and Jeep Compass. However, the Plus version will go against the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, and the soon-to-be-released Mahindra XUV 7XO.
