Following recent completion of energy efficiency measures in 70 EHT substations in Vijayawada zone, the estimated savings will be around 2.58 million units per annum worth Rs 1.87 crore per annum.

According to KVN Chakradar Babu, JMD, APTransco, the State Government is giving utmost priority to energy efficiency in the power sector.

Apart from other sectors, the government is aiming to implement energy efficiency measures in power sector on saturation basis. He said during a review meeting on Sunday that energy is the prime mover of economic growth and an important part of energy security. Energy efficiency measures are being implemented in 69 substations of Visakhapatnam zone and 102 substations of Kadapa zone.

Energy efficiency is one of the most powerful tools to achieve the objective of cost effective power, said K Vijayanand, Special Chief Secretary, Energy and CMD of APTransco.

He said APTransco has equipped 9W LED bulbs, 20 W LED tube lights, high efficiency BLDC fans, 70 W LED streetlights and 110 W Yard lights and 190W LED floodlights in substations. APTransco has taken transmission loss reduction measures to reduce losses under 2.8 per cent.
