Visakhapatnam: The initiative by Andhra Pradesh under the banner 'Investing in future' at Expo 2020 Dubai has drawn an encouraging response.

The weeklong Andhra Pradesh floor, which was opened at the India Pavilion by Minister for Commerce and IT Mekapati Goutham Reddy on Friday has been drawing very good enthusiasm among visitors to the expo.

This is the first time the AP Government is showcasing the State's investment potential at an international fora. Top officials from the Industries Department, APIIC and AP Economic Development Board are attending the expo.

In a tweet on Monday, the Minister stated "Expo2020 Dubai called upon #Indiadisaspora in Dubai to invest in AP. Addressed networking conclave organised by @APNRTSOfficial--right time for NRIs to invest in their motherland. There is a great opportunity to invest in AP, with vast natural resources & stable government."

During the networking session, it was explained that the State has built a strong ecosystem by initiating economic and social development programs, establishing key institutions at the grassroots level for decentralised implementation of social & economic development programs/initiatives and developing a

robust action plan for intensive monitoring of implementation & results.

Reddy said "with our focus on "Investing on future", we are looking to make a stark difference to key sectors impacting the lives of our citizens. One of the primary steps taken by the State towards this comprehensive development is by significantly increasing the budget in key sectors namely education, health, social welfare and agriculture."

Emphasis is being laid on the Telugu Diaspora constituting the second largest Indian linguistic diaspora outside the country. There are an estimated 1.2 million Telugu diaspora members spread across the world. The UAE is home to a large number of our Telugu diaspora who have done well in multiple areas including IT, trade and exports, construction, financial sector, entrepreneurs and retail.
