Visakhapatnam: Andhra University, Visakhapatnam and the city-based Akshaya Innotech signed a technology transfer licensing agreement for the transfer of patented technology on "Portable novel biosensor for type 2 diabetes" on Monday.

The strip-free device is environment friendly, economical and sustainable, as it can be reused by multiple patients for multiple times. The biosensor device has a wide range of applications, it can be used for wide applications such as studying enzyme kinetics, drug interactions, active site and precipitation reactions, DNA hybridisations, and also in cancer diagnosis and has huge market potential.

The distinction of the technology is strip-free which can detect and predict diabetes of type 2 and diabetes in insulin insensitive patients. The biosensor device is of high specificity, gives accurate results and is compatible with android, windows and iOS. The process will help Akshaya Innotech to start indigenous production of the biosensor as a part of its 'Make in India' initiative. Akshaya Innotech has a strong team of professionals. The core team is assisted by an R&D team with a cumulative experience of more than 20 years.
