Visakhapatnam: IN a record of sorts, 60 people were tested Covid positive on a single day at Visakha Steel General Hospital (VSGH) at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant's Ukkunagaram township here on Sunday.
Health officials confirmed that they had diagnosed 196 positive cases in Visakhapatnam district-the highest since subsiding of second wave. Andhra Pradesh reported 1,257 cases during the day.
When connected, an official of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, told Bizz Buzz that all those tested positive were not employees of the steel plant.
While admitting that there is a spike in Covid cases, he said the hospital owned by them also provides treatment and Covid testing facility to people living in and around the township.
The industries and major establishments in Visakhapatnam are awaiting guidelines from the government for offering work from home facility to a section of employees in non-core areas to avoid spread of the pandemic.
