The Telugu political drama Mayasabha: The Rise of the Titans is now streaming on Sony LIV. This original web series brings to screen a fictionalized retelling of political events from the 1990s in Andhra Pradesh, focusing on power struggles, shifting loyalties, and personal rivalries.
The series debuted exclusively on Sony LIV on Thursday, August 7. Mayasabha is accessible in five languages — Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada — targeting a diverse regional audience. This multi-language release underlines Sony LIV's commitment to strengthening its Telugu and regional content portfolio.
The story revolves around two childhood friends — Kakarla Krishnama Naidu and M.S. Rami Reddy — whose bond turns bitter as they climb political ladders. The fictional characters bear resemblance to former Andhra Pradesh leaders, N. Chandrababu Naidu and Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy. The plot explores themes like political betrayal, ambition, and shifting alliances during the turbulent 1990s.
Aadhi Pinisetty leads the cast as Krishnama Naidu, while Chaitanya Rao portrays Rami Reddy. Supporting roles feature Divya Dutta, Sai Kumar, Srikanth Iyengar, Nassar, Tanya Ravichandran, and Shatru. The creators and directors are Deva Katta and Kiran Jay Kumar, known for their grip on political narratives.
The series is produced by Vijay Krishna Lingamaneni and Sree Harsha under Hitmen and Proodos Productions LLP. Cinematography is handled by Suresh Ragutu and Gnana Shekar V.S., while editing duties are managed by Praveen K.L. The nine-episode series was completed in 90 days, following a production structure similar to that of three feature films.
