Historical courtroom drama Kesari Chapter 2, starring Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan, and Ananya Panday, is set for its digital debut on JioHotstar starting June 13.
Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and produced under Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions banner, the film explores the events that followed the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. It focuses on the legal battle led by Sir C Sankaran Nair against British General Dyer, drawing viewers with its courtroom intensity and emotional depth.
Akshay Kumar takes on the role of Nair, a determined lawyer who dared to hold the British accountable. Ananya Panday plays Dilreet Gill, the passionate legal aide who encourages Nair to step into the courtroom. R. Madhavan features as Neville McKinley, who defends General Dyer and delivers a noteworthy performance despite the character’s legal defeat.
The film garnered positive reviews for its storytelling and performances, resulting in a strong run at the box office. Since hitting theatres on April 18, it has earned Rs 142 crore globally.
