After multiple delays and a prolonged production timeline, 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu' starring actor-politician Pawan Kalyan premiered in theatres across India on Thursday. The historical action film is now under public and critical scrutiny, with digital release plans already in motion.
According to reports, Amazon Prime Video has obtained the streaming rights for the film. The digital release is anticipated around the end of August, though no formal statement has been made by the production team regarding the exact OTT premiere date.
Social media platforms are seeing a spike in user reviews. Some viewers pointed out issues in visual effects, story coherence, and presentation. One online user posted that the film lacked narrative flow and was weakened by patchy editing and an underwhelming romantic subplot. Another comment described the visual effects as substandard and criticized the age gap between lead actors.
Set in the backdrop of the Mughal Empire during the 17th century, the film centers on Veeramallu, a legendary outlaw portrayed by Pawan Kalyan. The project, helmed by Krish Jagarlamudi, faced several halts during its making. Supporting cast includes Nidhhi Agerwal in the role of Panchami and Bobby Deol as Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.
Subtitled "HHVM: Part 1—Sword vs Spirit," the film positions itself as the first in a possible series. The green light for a sequel will depend largely on the film’s box office performance and audience feedback.
