The teaser of War 2, a follow-up to the 2019 blockbuster War, was officially launched on Tuesday, May 20. The action-packed film, directed by Ayan Mukerji, is scheduled for theatrical release on August 14, ahead of Independence Day. Headlining the cast are Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani, with Jr NTR marking his entry into Yash Raj Films' (YRF) growing spy universe.
The teaser was released strategically on Jr NTR’s birthday, aligning with speculations of his character’s long-term involvement in the studio’s spy franchise that already includes Tiger, Pathaan, and Alpha. Industry sources suggest Jr NTR's role may evolve into standalone projects within the YRF Spy Universe.
YRF posted the teaser with the message:

War 2 will be released in five Indian languages—Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada—targeting a wide national audience. The film continues the storyline of Agent Kabir, portrayed by Hrithik Roshan, and introduces fresh layers to the ongoing spy narrative constructed by YRF.
The film’s production spanned six international locations, with principal photography wrapped up over a 150-day schedule. Beginning in February 2024, the crew shot sequences in Spain, Italy, Abu Dhabi, Japan, Russia, and India. Select portions were also filmed on specially constructed sets in Mumbai.
According to a source connected with the project, "War 2 has been one of the most extensive undertakings in the YRF Spy Universe, involving real-world locations and action setups to maintain a grounded visual tone."
The majority of filming has been completed, with only a final dance sequence left to shoot. Hrithik Roshan reprises his role as Agent Kabir, while fans await Jr NTR’s portrayal in this high-octane thriller.
