Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2 crosses ₹140 crore in three days but lags behind Rajinikanth’s Coolie at the box office.

Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2 has had an impressive start at the Indian box office but continues to trail far behind Rajinikanth’s Coolie. Despite this, the action-packed thriller has managed to surpass the lifetime earnings of Salman Khan’s Sikandar in just three days.
War 2 India box office performance so far
Part of YRF’s spy universe, War 2 opened on a strong note with ₹52 crore on Day 1. Benefiting from the holiday on Friday (Day 2), the film collected ₹57.35 crore. However, Saturday saw a dip, with earnings of ₹33 crore (all languages), according to early estimates from Sacnilk.
This brings the film’s India nett total to ₹142.35 crore after three days. By Sunday, it is expected to cross the ₹150 crore mark.
Worldwide collections and comparison with Sikandar
On the global front, War 2 had already grossed ₹168 crore in just two days. With Saturday’s earnings included, the worldwide collection has now crossed the ₹200 crore milestone.
In doing so, it has already beaten Salman Khan’s Sikandar, which earned ₹110 crore during its entire domestic run.
Regional breakdown: Hindi dominates, Telugu shines
The Hindi version continues to lead collections, while Jr NTR’s presence has ensured strong numbers in Telugu-speaking states. In the first three days, the Telugu version alone contributed over ₹35 crore.
The Tamil version also picked up momentum on Day 3, with better occupancies than Hindi. On Saturday, War 2 recorded:
- 31.42% average occupancy in Hindi
- 49% average occupancy in Tamil
- 42% average occupancy in Telugu
Southern cities like Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bengaluru delivered stronger numbers, while metro circuits such as Delhi and Mumbai saw comparatively lower footfalls.
Star reactions and box office clash with Coolie
The film features Kiara Advani, along with Ashutosh Rana and Anil Kapoor in pivotal roles. While it hasn’t yet matched the record-breaking benchmarks of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan or Salman Khan’s Tiger, it is performing better than most recent Bollywood releases.
Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR both expressed gratitude to audiences on Saturday. Hrithik said watching fans celebrate in theatres made his heart “fuller,” while Jr NTR described the love as “incredible.”
However, in the ongoing box office clash, Rajinikanth’s Coolie has emerged as the clear leader. By Day 3, Coolie had earned ₹158.25 crore in India and an estimated ₹320–325 crore worldwide, outperforming War 2’s ₹142.35 crore domestic total. On Saturday alone, Coolie brought in ₹38.50 crore, while War 2 earned ₹33 crore.
