Spy Universe Comparisons and Competition
War 2, featuring Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, and a cameo by Bobby Deol, is the sixth installment in YRF’s Spy Universe. While its early performance has outpaced Tiger 3 and War, the film still lags behind Jr NTR’s Devara Part One, which collected ₹120.7 crore in its first two days.
Reportedly mounted on a massive ₹325 crore budget, War 2 is locked in a box office battle with Rajinikanth’s Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. While Coolie led the opening day with ₹65 crore, its Day 2 numbers slipped to ₹53.5 crore, allowing War 2 to surge ahead.
Reviews and Audience Response
Despite the impressive box office momentum, both War 2 and Coolie have faced largely negative reviews from critics and audiences. Viewers have pointed to confusing storylines and underwhelming action set pieces, raising questions about their long-term hold at the box office.
As the Independence Day weekend unfolds, the box office clash between Hrithik Roshan and Rajinikanth promises to be one of the biggest showdowns of 2025.
