Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s highly anticipated action thriller War 2 is set to storm cinemas on August 14 in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film has witnessed a massive boost in advance sales — a tenfold jump — following the launch of Telugu show bookings.
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, War 2 had already grossed around ₹10 crore for its opening day (Hindi version, with block seats) before bookings opened in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. But once the Telugu slots went live, ticket sales skyrocketed from 2,500 to 25,000 per hour on Tuesday evening, with BookMyShow alone logging over 20,000 hourly sales.
Originally slated to begin pre-sales in Telugu states on August 11, bookings were delayed by a day due to a pending government order on ticket price hikes.
The sequel sees Hrithik return as spy Kabir, this time facing off against Jr NTR’s Indian agent. The ensemble also features Ashutosh Rana and connects to YRF’s growing Spy Universe, which includes Tiger, Pathaan, and the upcoming Alpha. The first War (2019) — co-starring Tiger Shroff and Vaani Kapoor — was a blockbuster, and expectations for War 2 are sky-high.
With advance bookings now at ₹9.8 crore and demand surging across languages, the film is poised for a thunderous Independence Day weekend opening.
