Vijay Deverakonda Reveals Why He Passed on Oke Oka Jeevitham

Vijay Deverakonda’s next major film, Kingdom, directed by Gowtham Tinnanuri, will now release on July 4, 2025. Initially planned for an earlier date, the spy action thriller has been officially postponed, according to industry sources.

During a recent interview with Cinema Vikatan, Deverakonda spoke about a project he was once in talks for but ultimately did not pursue. The film, Oke Oka Jeevitham (titled Kanam in Tamil), eventually featured Sharwanand and marked the directorial debut of Shree Karthick.

Deverakonda said he had multiple discussions about the script and was deeply interested in both acting in and producing the film. However, after serious consideration, he decided the role did not align with him. Despite stepping away as the lead, he had expressed willingness to take on the producer’s role. That plan didn’t move forward, as producer SR Prabhu took charge of the project.

Oke Oka Jeevitham released in 2022 and received favorable audience response. Interestingly, the release came shortly after Liger, a film that proved to be a low point in Deverakonda’s career.

Looking ahead, the actor has several projects lined up. He is collaborating with director Rahul Sankrityan for an upcoming venture, and another film titled Rowdy Janardhan with Ravi Kiran Kola is also in progress. Additionally, work on the sequel to Kingdom has already begun, signaling an active phase for the actor in 2025.
