The Telugu film industry experienced a relatively subdued year in 2025, with several high-profile releases falling short of expectations. Big-budget films such as Game Changer, Akhanda 2, and Hari Hara Veera Mallu struggled to leave a strong mark at the box office. The absence of major star-driven releases featuring actors like Prabhas and Jr NTR also impacted overall collections.

Despite these challenges, a handful of films managed to draw audiences and post impressive numbers in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Leading the pack was Venkatesh Daggubati’s Sankranthiki Vasthunam, which emerged as the highest-grossing film of the year in the Telugu states.

Directed by Anil Ravipudi, the action-comedy dominated the Sankranthi festive season and went on to collect approximately Rs. 199.50 crore in its full theatrical run across AP and Telangana. The film’s success came as a major relief for producer Dil Raju, especially after his other Sankranthi release, Game Changer, underperformed despite strong pre-release buzz.

Pawan Kalyan featured prominently on the list with two releases in 2025. While Hari Hara Veera Mallu failed to live up to expectations, grossing around Rs. 82.50 crore and settling at the seventh position, They Call Him OG turned out to be a commercial success. The action entertainer earned about Rs. 189.50 crore in AP and Telangana, securing the second spot among the year’s biggest grossers.

Non-Telugu films also made their presence felt. Kantara: Chapter 1, starring Rishab Shetty, performed strongly in the Telugu states, collecting nearly Rs. 98.50 crore and claiming third place on the list. Meanwhile, Coolie, featuring Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna, found a place in the top ten with a respectable Rs. 68.50 crore gross.

Other notable entries included Daaku Maharaaj, which emerged as a surprise success, as well as Akhanda 2, Mirai, and HIT 3.
