Tu Yaa Main First Review: Intense Performances Power Bejoy Nambiar’s Psychological Drama
Director Bejoy Nambiar ties his imagination to logic with Tu Yaa Main
Aala Flowpara (Adarsh Gourav) and Miss Vanity (Shanaya Kapoor) face their ultimate nightmare in a 20-foot empty swimming pool in Bejoy Nambiar’s official remake of the Thai thriller The Pool.

Love floats serenely in a pond full of predatory danger this Valentine’s week as Bejoy Nambiar mixes genres to hatch a triangle of sorts between two opposite social media influencers and a crocodile metaphor Bollywood in Tu Yaa Main. Unfolding like a horror film with a lesson at its core, when sleek city girl Avani Shah (Amrapali Gupta) and street-smart musician Maruti Kadam (Mukta Barve) get pushed into collaborating by their big-city boss (Siddhanth Kapoor) in Mumbai’s ever-boiling cauldron of content creation, their relationship of convenience blossoms into a lust-filled love story that leaps class divides and uncovers Tu Yaa Main movie review that lie behind their swaggified facades.
Love makes them question their feelings for each other when they’re forced to reckon with the very nature of intimacy and responsibility; what begins as a getaway to Goa quickly turns into a nightmare when unexpected monsoon madness leaves them stranded at a deserted hotel. What follows is a heart-pounding thriller as faulty machinery leaves them stuck at the bottom of the hotel’s emptied out swimming pool with rising waters and only a hungry crocodile to keep them company. As long bouts of claustrophobia are pierced by glimpses of hope, passion turns primal and greed must be looked at through the lens of survival.
Fans of Nambiar’s work over the past decade – and you’ve got to be a patient one to have seen movies like Shaitan and Taish – will tell you he’s usually favored style over substance with his films. In Tu Ya/Main, he finally approaches this delicate balance. Sure, it’s flashy as hell and gorgeously dreams up a world that few of us will ever know, but it actually has a pulse.
