Top Telugu Stars to Gather for Gaddar Awards in Hyderabad

For the first time in over a decade, Telangana is preparing for a major gathering of Telugu cinema’s biggest names, as the state government reintroduces the long-awaited Gaddar Telangana Film Awards. The prestigious event, named in memory of revolutionary balladeer Gaddar, is scheduled to take place on June 14 at HITEX Exhibition Centre, Madhapur.

The move marks a significant cultural revival under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who highlighted recognizing excellence across all 24 departments of filmmaking. The awards are positioned as the official state recognition for the Telugu film industry, filling a long-standing gap left after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

Historically, full attendance of top Telugu actors at one event was rare, last seen during united Andhra Pradesh's Nandi Awards or Chiranjeevi’s 60th birthday celebration. The return of a government-organized film awards function has created high anticipation among fans and industry insiders alike.

Unlike private awards such as SIIMA or Filmfare, which often see limited participation from Tollywood's leading names, the Gaddar Awards aim to bring together a wide representation of the industry. Attendance from major stars is expected to reflect the function’s status as a state-sponsored cultural celebration.

Actors including Allu Arjun, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salman, and SJ Suryah are likely to attend. Directors such as Nag Ashwin, and popular singers like Sid Sriram and Shreya Ghoshal are also expected at the event.

In response to Telangana’s initiative, sources suggest that the Andhra Pradesh government is considering reintroducing the Nandi Awards. However, an official statement is awaited.
