Ticket Sales for the Kerala Story 2 Continue Even After Court Stay
Booking of tickets for the Kerala Story 2 was possible and therefore, there was a possibility the film might be screened in theatres on the release day.
The Kerala High Court stayed the release of The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond for 15 days amid concerns over legal scrutiny and communal sensitivity.

The booking of tickets for 'The Kerala Story 2-Goes Beyond' was still going on even after stay put by the court. The single bench of the Kerala High Court earlier declared stay on February 27, 2026. Kerala High Court interim stay on film release before a separate Bench.
The submission regarding the sale of tickets was presented before Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas. The petitioners for the case at Sreedev Namboodiri and Freddy Francis on whose petitions the court on Thursday (February 26, 2026) had stayed the release of the movie for 15 days.
They told the court that the filmmaker had moved an appeal before a division bench against the stay on Thursday (February 26, 2026) night. There is no interim order issued paving the way for Kerala Story 2 Goes Beyond online ticket sales, and only judgement was reserved.
However, on Friday morning, booking of movie tickets was possible. Therefore, there was a chance that the film might be screened in theatres during the day. Instead of the interim stay on its release, the lawyers said. They replied that they will verify if the film was being screened in theatres during the day. It is as the result will file a contempt plea.
Justice Thomas, on February 26, 2026 stayed the release of the film for 15 days, saying that prima facie there was a visible non-application of mind to the necessity of law by the censor board, CBFC.
The judge also added that "the possibility of communal disharmony or denigration of a community also being prima facie involved in the movie". The release of the movie without scrutiny by the higher authorities would be legally wrong.
