The wizarding world is expanding — and this time, it’s hitting your TV screens with a bang! HBO has officially cast the three iconic roles of Harry, Hermione, and Ron for its highly anticipated Harry Potter TV series. Fans, get ready: this magical journey is set to unfold over nearly a decade!

Meet the New Faces of Hogwarts

Say hello to Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Alastair Stout stepping into Hermione Granger’s shoes, and Arabella Stanton taking on the role of Ron Weasley. These fresh young talents were picked after an intense search to bring new life to the beloved trio originally played by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint.

The showrunner and director have hailed these new stars as “unique” and “wonderful to behold,” promising a fresh yet faithful take on the legendary characters.

A Casting Quest Like No Other

Here’s a fun fact: nearly 32,000 kids auditioned for these roles, all hoping to follow in the footsteps of the original cast, who have become global icons over the years. The pressure was immense — but the casting directors, Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, spared no effort in their quest to find the perfect trio.

Francesca Gardiner, the creator of the new series, shared,

“After an extraordinary search, we are thrilled to announce that we’ve found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron. Their talent is truly magical, and we can’t wait for the world to see what they bring to life on screen.”

The audition process was intense and creative — candidates submitted acting videos and even shared heartfelt stories about someone special in their lives, whether a family member, friend, or pet. It’s clear that the new cast brings not just skill, but real heart to their roles.

When Can You Watch?

Filming kicks off this summer, so the wait won’t be too long! While these young actors are newcomers to the big stage, they already boast impressive experience. Dominic McLaughlin will appear in the BBC’s upcoming live-action show Gifted, and Arabella Stanton wowed audiences as Matilda in the West End’s Matilda The Musical.

The first season of Harry Potter is slated to premiere in 2026 on HBO — and judging by the buzz, it’s going to be pure magic.
