Telangana High Court today dropped a bomb on the fans of Akhanda 2 by suspending the government's order that had approved the rise of film tickets prices. The original order was passed only yesterday by the Telangana government and had permitted quite handsome hikes in ticket prices for the flick.
High Court Intervention
Advocate Srinivas Reddy filed a petition challenging the government order and opposed the hike. The High Court has now quickly intervened in the matter as it did with the release of They Call Him OG in September, and it has already suspended the ticket price revision for Akhanda 2.
For OG, the price hike was after the first weekend, and a similar forecast is for Akhanda 2. But, as most of the premiere shows are already sold out, theaters along with distributors of the movie have to handle a challenging situation in rolling back prices now.
Ticket Price Hike Details
As per the original government order (GO):
Single screens: ₹50 increase per ticket
Multiplexes: ₹100 increase per ticket
Premiere show on December 11th: ₹600
The price hike was to be in place from December 12th to 14th, 2025, but the High Court suspension has currently put the plan into abeyance.
Impact on Release and Audience
Last-minute legal obstacles create confusion for the viewers as well as movie owners, the latter suffering from loss of revenue and diminished release momentum. Audience who had Akhanda 2 on their lists of must-watches are now left in dilemma while cinema owners are toiling with logistical difficulties.
The trade analysts assert that the conflicts can henceforth be avoided by putting in place long-term solutions. A transparent and legally-viable framework for ticket rates will help eliminate last-minute alterations and the difficulties in the distribution of films across Telangana will be reduced.
Looking Ahead
Akhanda 2 team and the Telangana film officials are likely to have quick negotiations to settle the matter. The film still has huge hype, and it is very important to resolve the disputes concerning ticket prices quickly to keep the audience's interest and box office performance high.
