Aamir Khan’s latest film Sitaare Zameen Par continues to make steady progress at the box office despite witnessing its lowest single-day collection so far. On its 13th day, the sports comedy earned Rs 2.75 crore, a slight dip from previous days, yet the film has impressively crossed Rs 130 crore domestically.
Produced by RS Prasanna and featuring Aamir Khan as a basketball coach mentoring differently-abled players, Sitaare Zameen Par has garnered widespread acclaim. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film’s total box office collection in India now stands at Rs 132.9 crore, surpassing Salman Khan’s Sikandar but yet to beat Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force.
Despite new releases like Anurag Basu’s Metro... In Dino and the Hindi-dubbed Jurassic World Rebirth hitting theatres this week, Sitaare Zameen Par maintains its stronghold, partly due to Aamir Khan’s firm decision against an OTT release. At a special screening for differently-abled students in Mumbai, Aamir expressed gratitude to the Multiplex Association of India for honoring his stance. The event was also attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and singer Amruta Fadnavis.
The film, seen by President Droupadi Murmu last month at Rashtrapati Bhavan, promotes themes of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Released on June 20 as a spiritual successor to Aamir’s 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par, it stars a talented ensemble cast alongside Aamir, including Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, and Samvit Desai, among others.
As Sitaare Zameen Par continues its theatrical journey, Aamir Khan’s commitment to cinema-going audiences sets a strong example in an era dominated by digital releases.
