Sitaare Zameen Par Box Office Collection Day 2: Aamir Khan's Film Doubles Opening, Crosses ₹30 Crore Milestone

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan returns with a bang as his latest film, Sitaare Zameen Par, witnesses a solid jump on Day 2, pushing its total earnings beyond ₹30 crore.

Released on June 20, Sitaare Zameen Par—starring Aamir Khan and Genelia D’Souza—had a modest start at the box office with Day 1 earnings of ₹10.7 crore (India net). However, strong word-of-mouth and positive critical response seem to have done the trick, as the film nearly doubled its collection on Saturday.

According to box office tracking portal Sacnilk, Sitaare Zameen Par raked in approximately ₹21.50 crore on Day 2, taking the film’s total domestic earnings to ₹32.20 crore. The RS Prasanna directorial is gaining momentum heading into the weekend, bolstered by increasing footfalls and positive audience reactions.

Saturday's performance was further reflected in the film's growing occupancy rates. Starting with a 13% occupancy in the morning, the film climbed to 31.86% in the afternoon, 43.05% in the evening, and peaked at 56.71% during night shows—indicative of the rising buzz around the film.

Critics have lauded Sitaare Zameen Par for its sensitive yet light-hearted take on intellectual disability. Film critic Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express noted, “To make a film revolving around intellectual disability is fraught with risk… Borrowing the tone from the original, Sitaare Zameen Par chooses to stay on the side of laughter, and it’s a wise decision, because what you can convey to the average person through laughs sometimes has more weight than wrung-out tears.”

As the weekend continues, all eyes are on how much further Sitaare Zameen Par can go, especially with Aamir Khan's strong pull among family audiences and the film’s growing reputation as a heartwarming watch.
