Retro OTT Release: Suriya-Pooja Hegde's Romantic Action Drama Set for Netflix Premiere in Early June – Report

After a strong start at the box office, Retro, the Tamil romantic action film starring Suriya and Pooja Hegde, is reportedly heading to OTT. Although no official announcement has been made, sources suggest the Karthik Subbaraj directorial could stream on Netflix by early June, just over a month after its theatrical debut. Released on May 1, 2025, Retro experienced an exciting opening, but its momentum dwindled in the following weeks due to competition from other films. Despite this, the movie is said to have become Suriya's highest-grossing film to date.

The film’s anticipated OTT release is likely to offer a second life to the movie, drawing viewers who missed it in theatres. With Retro’s digital rights secured by Netflix, it’s speculated the film will drop on the streaming platform on June 5, 2025. This date remains unofficial for now, but it aligns with industry trends where high-profile films typically transition to streaming platforms within a month of their theatrical release.

Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Retro features a gripping narrative set in 1960s Thoothukudi, with Suriya in the lead role as Paari Kannan. The story blends themes of identity, love, betrayal, and violence, along with a significant political backdrop. Fans are eagerly awaiting an official confirmation on the exact streaming date, with many speculating on surprise cameos and additional content once the film is available digitally.

Until then, audiences are likely to stay tuned for updates as the buzz around Retro continues to grow.
