After a protracted fight with cancer, television actor Priya Marathe, who was best known for her parts in Kasamh Se and Pavitra Rishta, died on Sunday at the age of 38. Co-stars and colleagues recall her as a kind, brave, and gifted artist, and her unexpected death has shocked the Indian television industry.
Subodh Bhave’s emotional tribute
Actor Subodh Bhave, Priya's cousin, wrote a heartfelt message on Instagram referring to her as a fighter. He penned,
A few years ago, she received a cancer diagnosis. She nevertheless made a comeback to the stage and television with her stunning performances. However, the sickness returned. Although my sister was a fighter, her strength ultimately failed her. A sincere homage to you, Priya. Om Shanti.
He also commended her commitment to acting and the poise with which she handled difficulties.
Her kindness and strength are remembered by her co-stars.
Usha Nadkarni, a seasoned actor who costarred with Priya in Pavitra Rishta, shared her sorrow with Mid-Day:
"Why God does such things is beyond me. She was very young. I believed she was getting better. However, her health deteriorated. What happened to her wasn't fair.
The entire team was shocked by Priya's passing, according to actor Anurag Sharma, who portrayed her husband in Pavitra Rishta.
She was a lovely human being in addition to being a talented actress. Life can be so erratic. I pray that God grants her inner peace.
Swati Anand, her co-star in Kasamh Se, recalled Priya's tenacity, saying, "Swati Di, I will fight this battle with all my strength." "Her passing feels beyond comprehension," Anand continued. All I can hope for is that her soul finds peace.
Concerning Priya Marathe
In 2005, Priya made her acting debut in the Marathi series Ya Sukhano Ya. She then made her Hindi TV debut in Kasamh Se. She became a household name after playing Varsha in Pavitra Rishta. She made appearances in well-known series such as Maharana Pratap, Saath Nibhana Saathiya, Uttaran, and Bade Achhe Lagte Hain over the years.
She also acted in Marathi films, including Umne Jeena Seekh Liya and Ti Ani Itar.
Priya had reportedly been battling cancer for over two years. She breathed her last at her residence in Mira Road, Mumbai, at 4 am on Sunday. She is survived by her husband, actor Shantanu Moghe.
