The much-anticipated Telugu period action-adventure, 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 – Sword vs Spirit,' starring Power Star Pawan Kalyan, has landed in theaters, but its grand spectacle is quickly overshadowed by widespread criticism over its visual effects (VFX). Released on July 24, 2025, the film has garnered mixed reviews, with a significant portion of audience disappointment directly targeting the perceived poor quality of its computer-generated imagery (CGI).

Reports suggest that the filmmakers are now considering re-editing portions of the movie to address these concerns. While official confirmation remains elusive, sources indicate discussions are underway to either replace or entirely remove the most criticized VFX sequences to enhance the cinematic experience.

Social media platforms have been inundated with reactions from viewers who expressed their dismay. Many expected higher production values from a historical epic of this scale and budget. One user lamented, "Watched Hari Hara Veera Mallu — very disappointed with the CG/VFX quality. It really takes away from the impact of the film." Another urged the production team and Pawan Kalyan himself to "please consider reworking the CG/VFX." Some acknowledged the overall design of the movie but conceded that "Youth might get little bit off due to those 4 to 5 vfx scenes."

'Hari Hara Veera Mallu' chronicles the journey of Veera Mallu, an outlaw tasked with a daring mission: to retrieve the legendary Koh-i-Noor diamond from the formidable Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. The film features a notable cast including Bobby Deol, Nidhhi Agerwal, Nargis Fakhri, Sathyaraj, and Nassar.

Despite the current visual challenges, the narrative concludes by setting the stage for a sequel, 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 2 – Battlefield,' hinting at future developments for the saga. However, industry reviews, such as one from ETimes, have also pointed out issues beyond the VFX, noting the underutilization of a strong supporting cast and a potential lack of cohesion, describing the film as "ambitious but short on cohesion." The success of the planned sequel may heavily depend on the makers' ability to address the present criticisms and deliver a visually compelling continuation
