New K-Drama 'The Nice Guy': Plot, Cast, Streaming Info

South Korean actor Lee Dong Wook is gearing up for his television return with a brand-new drama series titled The Nice Guy, also known as The Good Man. The series is expected to blend romance and emotional depth within a noir narrative structure.

The story centers around Park Seok Chul, portrayed by Lee Dong Wook, who is the eldest grandson in a third-generation crime family. Despite his lineage, Park Seok Chul exhibits an unusual sense of compassion and faces ongoing conflict as he navigates loyalty to his family, personal ambitions, and a complex relationship with his childhood love, Kang Mi Young. Actress Lee Sung Kyung will play Kang Mi Young, an aspiring singer whose dreams collide with harsh realities.

The narrative explores Seok Chul’s internal battle as he tries to lead a meaningful life, juxtaposed with his family’s criminal legacy. A recently released poster highlights this struggle, depicting him bruised and weary in an empty subway, accompanied by the tagline, "It’s okay if my life gets a little ruined."

JTBC confirmed that the drama will also feature Ryu Hye Young as Park Seok Hee and Oh Na Ra as Park Seok Gyeong. The ensemble cast includes Park Hoon, Cheon Ho Jin, Park Myung Shin, Park Won Sang, Han Min, and Kang Bin, all contributing to a richly layered storyline.

Directed by Song Hae Sung and Park Hong Soo, and written by Kim Woon Kyung, The Nice Guy is set to debut on July 18 on JTBC. The 14-episode series will air every Friday at 8:50 PM KST and wrap up by August 29. For global audiences, the show will be accessible through the streaming platform Viki.

Producers have described the series as a "sentimental noir," promising gripping emotional tension paired with action sequences and heartfelt drama.
