Netflix revealed the release plan for the concluding season of its hit series "Stranger Things" during its Tudum 2025 live fan event on May 31. The fifth and final season will debut in three installments this fall.
Cast members Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin, and Finn Wolfhard took the stage to reflect on their journey since the show’s original premiere on July 15, 2016. Their co-stars Gaten Matarazzo and Millie Bobby Brown sent recorded messages to the fans.
During the event, the actors shared memories and excitement as they introduced a teaser for the last season, featured on a vintage VHS tape. The preview revisits key moments from the series, including iconic Christmas lights and Eleven’s discovery, and sets the tone for the final battle against the villain Vecna.
The new season’s release dates are as follows: four episodes will drop on November 26, coinciding with Thanksgiving Eve, followed by three more episodes on December 25, Christmas Day. The series finale will stream on December 31, ringing in the new year with the much-anticipated conclusion.
Set in the fall of 1987, Season 5 continues after Hawkins, Indiana, grapples with the aftermath of the Rifts’ opening. The storyline focuses on Will, Mike, Lucas, and their friends as they attempt to defeat Vecna while the government imposes a military quarantine and intensifies its search for Eleven, who remains in hiding. The narrative promises a climactic confrontation with a new level of danger.
Returning cast includes Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, and others, alongside new additions such as Linda Hamilton and Jake Connelly. The full roster was confirmed at the Tudum event, highlighting the continuity and fresh faces joining the saga.
Netflix’s Tudum 2025 also featured appearances from other major series, including "Wednesday," "One Piece," and "Outer Banks," drawing attention to upcoming projects and special guest appearances like Lady Gaga’s role in "Wednesday."
"Stranger Things" fans can expect the final chapters to wrap up this fall with the full story released across late November to the end of December, marking the end of a cultural phenomenon that began nearly a decade ago.
