The actor had stated that he felt like the “real hero” of the film, citing that his character drives the story forward. Nagarjuna Issues Clarification at Kuberaa Success Meet
Addressing the backlash at a recent Kuberaa success meet, Nagarjuna offered a public clarification. Acknowledging the online criticism and memes, he explained that his words were misunderstood.
“Characters are the pivotal and central point of the film. It's not my cinema,” Nagarjuna said. “I've seen a lot of memes and trolls on social media for my words at the Kuberaa press meet.”
He emphasized that his intention was never to overshadow his co-stars or take sole credit.

Setting the record straight, the veteran actor added:
“I want to make it clear that this film belongs to everyone who worked on it. I’m saying again, this is Sekhar Kammula’s Kuberaa. It’s Deva’s cinema — not Dhanush but the character Deva. This film is Deepak's, Sameera's, and Khushboo's; above all, it belongs to Sekhar Kammula. Thank you so much.”

With ₹50 crore collected in just two days, trade analysts predict that it could easily approach ₹80 crore by the end of its first weekend.
