Mohanlal’s Thudarum Crosses ₹200 Crore Globally, Becomes Third Highest-Grossing Malayalam Film

Mohanlal’s latest film Thudarum continues its remarkable run at the global box office, smashing past the ₹200 crore milestone in just 17 days. The film has now cemented its place as the third highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time, joining an elite club of Mollywood blockbusters.

Initially projected to reach the ₹100 crore mark by its fourth week, Thudarum has exceeded all expectations. With ₹205 crore collected globally—₹115 crore from India and ₹90 crore from international markets—the film has left behind industry hits like 2018: Everyone Is A Hero, Premalu, and Pulimurugan.

In Kerala alone, Thudarum has made a strong impact, grossing ₹83 crore so far. It has generated approximately ₹36 crore in distributor share, and analysts suggest it could soon become the first Malayalam film to gross ₹100 crore in Kerala alone.

Directed by Tharun Moorthy, the film features a powerful performance by Mohanlal, supported by a stellar cast that includes Shobana, Prakash Varma, Farhaan Faasil, Maniyanpilla Raju, Binu Pappu, Irshad Ali, Aarsha Chandini Baiju, Thomas Mathew, and Krishna Prabha.

The only film to cross the ₹200 crore mark faster than Thudarum in Mollywood history is Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Empuraan.

A review by News18 noted the film’s emotional depth and thematic similarity to Mohanlal’s iconic Drishyam. It stated,

“It’s easy to compare Thudarum to Drishyam, as both follow ordinary men who go to great lengths for their families. But while Drishyam is built around a shocking twist, Thudarum takes a more emotional route. The first half grips you with a thriller format, while the second turns into a raw revenge drama. Though it may lack a jaw-dropping climax, Thudarum delivers a cathartic and memorable experience.”
