Mohanlal-starrer L2: Empuraan is set to make its digital debut on JioHotstar from April 24. The announcement was made by Aashirvad Cinemas through a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.
The film, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, was released in theatres on March 27. It serves as a sequel to the 2019 Malayalam hit Lucifer. Mohanlal returns in his dual avatar as Khureshi-Ab’raam and Stephen Nedumpally.
The cast also features Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Abhimanyu Singh, Jerome Flynn, and Eriq Ebouaney. Prithviraj Sukumaran reprises his role as Zayed Masood.
Produced under the banners of Aashirvad Cinemas, Lyca Productions, and Sree Gokulam Movies, the film is backed by producers Antony Perumbavoor, Subaskaran Allirajah, and Gokulam Gopalan.
British actor Jerome Flynn, best known for his role in HBO's Game of Thrones, plays a character named Boris. Ahead of the theatrical release, he shared his thoughts on joining the Malayalam film industry. Flynn noted that working on Empuraan offered a unique experience distinct from his prior work in the West. He also reflected on his past spiritual journeys in India, saying the project felt like a personal homecoming.
This marks the third collaboration between Mohanlal and director Prithviraj Sukumaran, following Lucifer and Bro Daddy (2022).
L2: Empuraan will be accessible exclusively on JioHotstar for its OTT audience beginning April 24.
