Story Overview
Laxman Bheri (Ravi Teja), an orphan raised by his uncle (Rajendra Prasad), works as a sub-inspector in the Railways Department in Warangal. His life takes a turn when he’s transferred to Adivavaram railway station in Uttar Andhra — a hub for ganja smuggling led by the notorious KG Reddy (Naveen Chandra).
In the midst of his mission to clean up the town, Laxman falls for Tulasi (Sreeleela), a local college girl. However, his growing enmity with Reddy leads to tragic consequences, pulling him deeper into the crime web. What injustice does Tulasi face? How does it change Laxman’s life? And how does he tackle Reddy’s gang? Mass Jathara answers these questions through an emotion-filled, action-packed narrative.
Performance Review
Ravi Teja once more takes on the role of the “mass hero” he is so well-known for, blending in the shades of his old characters from Vikramarkudu and Krack. His usual vibrancy, punch lines, and very high-action sequences do not change. Nevertheless, nothing new or revolutionary is seen in his performance this time.
Sreeleela is a vision of beauty on the screen and is the star of the emotional scenes, especially when she acts with Navya Swamy. Unfortunately, her role is somewhat superficial, and is mainly characterized by glamour, songs, and romantic scenes.
Naveen Chandra is the villainous KG Reddy, and even though the character is not very deep, he plays it well. Among the supporting actors, Rajendra Prasad, Hyper Aadi, VTV Ganesh, and Ajay Ghosh have moderate performances but do not support the comedy and emotional tracks with anything new.
Technical Aspects
Director Bhanu Bhogavarapu, making his debut, sticks to a safe formula — a mass entertainer tailored around Ravi Teja’s image. The film offers loud dialogues, predictable twists, and overused tropes. Despite his strong writing background, Bhanu doesn’t experiment with the screenplay or storytelling style.
On the brighter side, Bheems Ceciroleo’s music and background score add energy to the film, with catchy mass beats and emotional cues. Vidhu Ayyanna’s cinematography brings visual flair to the action scenes and songs. Editing by Naveen Nooli is crisp, and production values from Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas are impressive.
Verdict
Mass Jathara is a usual Ravi Teja-movie commercial entertainer with lots of action, drama, and mass elements, but the same old story goes a little further. Those who are fans of Ravi Teja and Sreeleela will find some moments in the movie to enjoy, particularly in the songs and the dancing and fighting sequences that are so lively.
Still the film seems to be a repeating and obvious saga for the average viewer. The mass entertainer would have been a lot more powerful with a better plot and tighter narration.
Final Verdict: Only watch the film if you are a Ravi Teja fan seeking a time-pass action movie.
Rating: ⭐⭐½ (2.5/5)
