Mahesh Babu Fans Angry Over Edited Re-Release of Khaleja

The 4K re-release of Khaleja, originally directed by Trivikram Srinivas and starring Mahesh Babu, hit theatres on May 30, following special previews a day earlier. Despite the anticipation, fans were quick to spot missing scenes in the updated version. This led to confrontations with theatre management, clips of which soon circulated online.

Fans Upset Over Missing Scenes Of Khaleja in Theatres

Following the Khaleja re-release, numerous users took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express disappointment over the edited version. Another viewer posted a video showing fans loudly chanting together and disrupting the screening, with the caption: “No Sunday Monday song.” Nalo naku devudu kanipisthunnadu scene ledu. Evadu kodite dhimma thirigi dialogue ledu. Chesthe comedy nene cheyali scene ledu.. inka em chesukodaniki ee re-release. Worst planning ra @KhalejaTheFilm #Khaleja4K. Anduke ee gola theatre lopala. (Songs, scenes and dialogues are missing from the film, what are we supposed to do with this re-release? That’s why fans are creating a ruckus).”

Missing scenes added to Khaleja re-release

The exhibitors issued a clarification on X regarding the missing scenes in the re-release of Khaleja. They stated: “Dear #MaheshBabu fans, please note that #Khaleja4K will be screened based on the content provided by our VPF partners. We've noticed some tweets mentioning that certain scenes or songs were not shown. We request you to stay informed and avoid creating unnecessary issues. Please understand.” They also confirmed that the missing scenes have now been restored.

The X account officials have posted an update about the film’s re-release on Friday morning. “EVERYTHING SORTED. "Enjoy Khaleja 4K to the fullest at theatres near you." However, fans continued to report missing scenes during the morning shows of the re-release at select theatres.

The Khaleja team (Anushka Shetty, Prakash Raj, Rao Ramesh, Shafi, Sunil, Ali, and Subbaraju) acknowledged the issue and stated that steps were being taken to address it. Though Khaleja struggled at the box office when it first released, the film has since earned a devoted fanbase and is now considered as a best Telugu film ever made.
