Directed by debutant Ashwin Kumar and written by Jayapurna Das, Mahavatar Narasimha is the first chapter in a planned seven-part animated cinematic universe based on the Dashavatara — the ten avatars of Lord Vishnu.

This first installment intertwines the stories of Varaha and Narasimha avatars. It follows Lord Vishnu’s incarnation as Varaha, the boar deity who rescues Earth from the demon Hiranyaksha, and later as Narasimha, the man-lion form who destroys the tyrant Hiranyakashipu to protect his devotee, Prahlad.
