Mahavatar Narasimha, the fierce animated portrayal of the iconic Narasimha avatar, is taking the box office by storm. After crossing the ₹200 crore milestone yesterday, the film now has its eyes set on the ₹300 crore mark. However, the journey to a “triple century” may not be easy.

With big releases like War 2 and Coolie set to hit theatres this Thursday, securing enough screens will be a major challenge—especially in BC centers with limited availability. While the main hubs will retain screenings, smaller centers may not have the capacity to continue its run.

Despite this, Mahavatar Narasimha continues to enjoy packed houses on weekends, with tickets selling out well into its third week. Trade analysts compare its craze to that of pan-India hits like Pushpa, noting that audiences who missed the initial run are still scrambling for weekend shows. Selling tickets at regular prices without hikes has also played in the producers’ favor.

Beyond box office numbers, the film’s unanimous critical acclaim has turned it into a case study for filmmakers—proof that strong content can draw massive attention, even in the crowded entertainment market. While crossing ₹300 crore might be tough due to the upcoming releases from Rajinikanth and Jr. NTR, the success of Mahavatar Narasimha is already inspiring other producers to explore big-budget animation. Industry experts believe this could spark a new wave of animated filmmaking in India.
