AR Murugadoss’ latest action-drama Madharaasi, starring Sivakarthikeyan, Rukmini Vasanth, and Vidyut Jammwal, has wrapped up its opening weekend on a strong note. Despite mixed reviews, the film has crossed the ₹60 crore worldwide mark in just three days and is now on track to beat the collections of Vikram’s Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2.

According to Sacnilk, the film earned ₹36.40 crore net and ₹42.75 crore gross in India over the weekend, while the overseas market contributed ₹20.25 crore, taking its global total to ₹63 crore.
For comparison, Sivakarthikeyan’s previous outing Amaran grossed ₹104.50 crore in three days, while Murugadoss’ earlier film Sikandar, featuring Salman Khan, had raked in ₹123.75 crore in the same period.
Occupancy and Language-Wise Collections
- Tamil version: ₹32.65 crore (56% occupancy on Sunday)
- Telugu version: ₹3.45 crore (19% occupancy)
- Hindi version: ₹3 lakh
The film’s strong Tamil performance has been the driving force behind its success, while Telugu and Hindi versions have seen modest numbers.
Set to Beat Veera Dheera Sooran
While Madharaasi is behind Amaran in terms of speed, it is well on its way to surpassing Vikram’s Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2 (₹63.45 crore lifetime). The next target in sight is Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen’s Thalaivan Thalaivii, which earned ₹83.6 crore lifetime.
Piracy Warning From Producers
Sri Lakshmi Movies, the production house, issued a stern warning against the circulation of unauthorised content. In an official note, they cautioned fans, crew, and social media pages against sharing BTS stills and videos without approval. “Any accounts doing such will be reported and brought down,” the producers stated.
About the Film
Madharaasi features Sivakarthikeyan as Raghu Ram, a patient with Fregoli delusion who is recruited to foil a North Indian syndicate smuggling illegal arms into Tamil Nadu. Rukmini Vasanth plays his love interest Malathy, while Vidyut Jammwal takes on the role of antagonist Virat. The film also stars Biju Menon, Vikranth, and Shabeer Kallarakkal in key roles.
