Kuberaa Producer Threatened by Prime Video to Cut Rs 10 Crore Over Release Date

Kuberaa, one of the most anticipated Telugu films, is set for a mid-June release. Directed by Sekhar Kammula, the social thriller stars Rashmika Mandanna, Dhanush, and Nagarjuna Akkineni in lead roles. Recently, the film’s producer revealed the pressure he faced from the OTT partner regarding the release schedule.

Producer Threatened by Prime Video?

In an interview with Gulte, Suneil Narang, the producer of Kuberaa, shared that Amazon Prime Video, which holds the streaming rights, insisted on a strict release date of June 20. Narang disclosed that Prime Video threatened to cut Rs 10 crore from the deal if the film’s release was delayed beyond that date.

“They have taken full control, and everything happens according to their demands. I requested a few extra weeks and proposed a July release due to possible post-production delays. But they responded that they would reduce the agreement by Rs 10 crore if we don’t release on June 20 as planned,” Narang explained.

Amid these tight schedules, Nagarjuna was recently seen completing his dubbing work for Kuberaa. The actor finished his segment shortly after celebrating his son Akhil Akkineni’s wedding to Zainab Ravdjee, signaling that the production is pushing to meet deadlines.

Dhanush Addresses Negativity at Audio Launch

On June 2, Kuberaa held its audio launch event, attended by the full cast and crew. Dhanush, one of the film’s stars, grabbed headlines with his candid remarks about ongoing negative rumors targeting him.

He said, “You can spread as many rumors and negative news as you want. Every time my movie releases, a negative campaign starts a month and a half before. But none of it affects me because my fans are my strongest support.”

With the pressure from the OTT platform and the team’s dedication, Kuberaa’s release on June 20 looks firmly on track, eagerly awaited by fans across the Telugu film industry.
