Kingdom, a Telugu-language spy action drama, is generating buzz ahead of its release, not just for its scale but for the financial strategy behind it. Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, the high-stakes project has been mounted on an estimated budget of Rs 130 crore, excluding promotions.
Despite the massive investment, insiders reveal the makers are yet to secure major profits from the film's first installment. However, the team remains hopeful, banking on long-term returns if the film succeeds and paves the way for its planned sequel.
The digital streaming rights were reportedly sold for Rs 50 crore, while the theatrical rights fetched an additional Rs 50 crore, helping the producers recover a significant portion of the costs. Still, the film will need to be a major box office success to generate notable profits.
Lead actor Vijay Deverakonda and director Gowtam Tinnanuri have reportedly not taken their full remuneration, opting instead to back the film’s potential. Producer S. Naga Vamsi, along with Sai Soujanya under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, is said to be counting on the project to deliver commercially in the long run.
The cast includes Satyadev and Bhagyashri Borse in key roles.
