Karan Johar Slams Trolls Over Alia Bhatt’s Nepotism Allegations

Karan Johar strongly retaliated against those labeling Alia Bhatt as a “nepo kid” during his interview with Baradwaj Rangan for Galatta Plus where he defended the actress he launched in Student of the Year (2012) and expressed his frustration with the Alia Bhatt nepotism narrative.
“Have you seen Highway? Have you seen Udta Punjab? Have you seen Raazi? Have you seen Gangubai?” Johar asked pointedly. “Just see her movies. Those who label Alia Bhatt as a nepo baby must be the most foolish individuals on earth. And no one can help you.”
The connection between Johar and Bhatt extends past their work together. Johar publicly acknowledges his profound emotional bond with her while frequently calling her his “first daughter.” During a past interview with ETimes he explained that he felt parental toward her for the first time. The nation knows she stands among our best actors while my love for her remains steadfast.
During the most recent season of Koffee With Karan the Karan Johar blasts nepotism trolls targeting Alia Bhatt debate gained momentum as social media users criticized Johar for repeatedly praising Alia by calling her “the best actress in the country.”
But the director is doubling down on what he calls authentic emotion: “Why should I be pretending for optics? I experience true love for her and wish to express this love continuously.
She is the first person who triggered my parental feelings. I love her and everyone in the country recognizes her as one of our best actors. I feel immense love and respect for her which allows me to express my thoughts freely. I have the right to cry at her good news because I feel genuinely good about it. I’m like a parent to her. Why should I be pretending for optics? My genuine love for her drives me to express it constantly.
