The film has successfully surpassed the ₹500 crore mark worldwide within the first week, thereby securing its position as one of the most successful films of the year. Following an amazing first week, the period action drama experienced a minor increase on Friday, which indicated a very strong beginning to its second weekend.
Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Collection: Day 9 Update
According to trade reports, Kantara Chapter 1 has grossed approximately ₹509 crore worldwide within eight days of release, with updated figures pushing the total to ₹520–540 crore by day nine.
The movie collected ₹360 crore net (₹432 crore gross) just in India, and within nine days, it has already crossed the ₹22 crore net mark on Friday - which is an increase of about 6% as compared to the previous day's figures.
Rishab Shetty's movie has already overtaken the total collection of Coolie (₹518 crore) and War (₹475 crore) and is now very close to getting into the list of the top 25 highest-grossing Indian films of all time.
According to trade experts, the film is likely to surpass the ₹600 crore mark by the end of the weekend due to its excellent word-of-mouth and increasing audience. Although the ₹1000 crore mark might be tough to achieve, the ₹800 crore mark looks very much within reach if the current pace is maintained.

Kantara Chapter 1, directed and written by Rishab Shetty, who also plays the main character, is a prequel to the 2022 hit film Kantara. The story is set nearly a millennium prior to the original film's plot and explores the themes of ancient folklore, myth, and spirituality, presenting them in a stunning visual manner through the use of modern cinematic techniques.
Besides Rishab Shetty, the cast includes Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah, and Jayaram among others. As it is a project of Hombale Films, the film is a part of a planned trilogy, with Kantara Chapter 2 already in the pipeline.
