The prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara has broken many records to become the highest-grossing Kannada film of 2025 and surpassing big titles from Bollywood and the South, including Sikandar and Game Changer.
Kantara Chapter 1 Continues Its Dominant Run
Carrying the phenomenal momentum even after the Dussehra record-breaking beginnings, Kantara Chapter 1 earned ₹61.85 crores on its first day, then ₹46 crores on Day 2, and ₹55 crores on Saturday, making the three-day gross reach ₹162.85 crores.
An electrifying run has placed Kantara among the highest-grossing Indian films of the year, even before it completes its opening weekend.
Breaking Kannada Cinema Records
On Friday, the film surpassed the lifetime collection of Su From So (₹92 crore), and by Saturday, it went beyond the lifetime earnings of Salman Khan’s Sikandar (₹110 crore) and Ram Charan’s Game Changer (₹131 crore). With this, Kantara Chapter 1 became only the fourth Kannada film to cross the ₹150 crore milestone.
Overseas Box Office Triumph
In a two-day span, Kantara Chapter 1 grossed over $2.5 million (22 crore INR) in foreign markets. The film is further projected to witness higher growth over the weekend, hence establishing globally.
