Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Day 2: ₹100 Crore & Counting, Highest-Grossing Kannada Film of 2025

Following a successful Dussehra opening, the Kantara Chapter 1 continued its winning streak at the box office. There was a slight drop in business on Friday, being a working day; nonetheless, evening collections remained impressive enough for the movie to be crowned the highest-grossing Kannada film of 2025.

Day 2 Box Office Collections:

Opening Day (Thursday): ₹61.85 crore net India gross

Kannada version: ₹19.60 crore net

Hindi-dubbed version: ₹18.50 crore net

Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam dubbed versions also enjoyed considerable earnings.

Friday collections (Day 2): ₹45 crore net

Total India, in 2 days: ₹106.85 crore net

Due to word-of-mouth and the endorsements of trade insiders, the film has now surpassed the earnings of Su From So (₹92 crore net) to become the highest-grossing Kannada film of 2025.

Overseas Collections:

Trade experts report, that Kantara Chapter 1 fared well even overseas, collecting somewhere around $2 million offshore on day 1, and thereby, possibly anchoring the worldwide gross at around ₹90 crores.

About the Film

Kantara Chapter 1 is set a thousand years before the original story and is a prequel to the 2022 hit Kantara. It is written and directed by Rishab Shetty, who also stars alongside Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah.

Being a sleeper hit, the original Kantara earned over ₹400 crore worldwide from a budget of ₹15 crore. Expectations were sky-high for the prequel — and the box office numbers reflect the fans' new found love for the uncharted chapter.
