With the Telugu fantasy film Kannappa eyeing a theatrical release on June 27, its production has hit a serious roadblock. The makers recently revealed that a hard drive containing crucial footage of the film has been stolen—an act they strongly condemn as sabotage rather than mere mischief.

In an official statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the production house 24 Frames Factory addressed the incident, identifying two individuals, Raghu and Charitha, who received the courier containing the hard drive. According to the statement, these individuals are unauthorized and have no affiliation with the production. The makers also stated they are aware of the real mastermind behind the theft and affirmed that the investigating authorities are also informed.

“It is disheartening to see such cheap and calculated tactics being deployed from within the industry itself. This is not mischief—it is sabotage, and it reflects a deeply unfortunate descent into personal vendetta-driven behavior,” the statement read.

Footage Leak Feared

The production team revealed that the stolen footage amounts to a significant 90 minutes of the film. Based on reliable intelligence, they believe the culprits plan to leak this footage online ahead of the film’s official release, intending to damage its theatrical prospects.

About the Film

Kannappa is directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and produced by veteran actor and filmmaker Mohan Babu. The story draws inspiration from the legendary devotee of Lord Shiva, Kannappa, a revered figure in Hindu mythology known for his unwavering devotion.

The film stars Vishnu Manchu in the titular role and features cameo appearances by a host of big-name stars, including Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, Mohanlal, and Kajal Aggarwal. Despite the current setback, the team remains determined to proceed with its scheduled release and bring Kannappa to audiences worldwide.
