Action film Jaat, led by actor Sunny Deol, is headed to Netflix after a successful theatrical run. The movie, which premiered on April 10 in cinemas, will reportedly start streaming on Netflix from June 5, according to media sources. An official confirmation from the OTT platform is still awaited.
Jaat was met with favorable audience reception and industry praise, translating into solid earnings. According to data from Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 88.65 crore at the domestic box office. Globally, it crossed Rs 118.78 crore, securing a spot in the Rs 100 crore club.
Set in the post-2009 Tamil civilian war period, the plot follows the escape of Ranatunga, a war criminal, who relocates to India with stolen treasure and seizes control of thirty villages through violent means. Years later, a mysterious man, known only as Jaat, emerges to challenge the oppressive regime and bring justice to the region.
The film features a strong ensemble cast including Randeep Hooda, Viineet Kumar Singh, Ramya Krishnan, and Jagapathi Babu in key roles.
Following the success of the original, a sequel has been announced. Sunny Deol will reprise his role as Baldev Pratap Singh in Jaat 2. Gopichand Malineni is expected to direct the follow-up. In a message to fans, Deol said, “Your support for Jaat has meant the world. Jaat 2 will be even bigger.”
