Deepika Padukone is currently embracing motherhood with her daughter Dua and has been away from the big screen since her last appearance in Singham Again. However, the Bollywood star is now reportedly preparing for a powerful return with Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s much-anticipated film Spirit, where she’ll star opposite Prabhas.

If reports are to be believed, Deepika is expected to earn a massive ₹20 crore for her role—possibly the highest paycheck of her career and even more than what many of her male counterparts, including husband Ranveer Singh, have earned in recent projects.

Deepika’s Role in Spirit

Spirit will mark Deepika’s second collaboration with Prabhas after Kalki 2898 AD, and the film is slated to go on floors later this year. Known for his blockbuster hits like Arjun Reddy and Animal, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has reportedly written one of his most powerful female characters for Deepika.

Sources reveal that Deepika was initially offered the role last year but turned it down due to scheduling conflicts during her pregnancy. With the production timeline now pushed, Vanga reportedly re-approached her—and this time, she said yes.

“It’s the most well-written female part in the world of Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Deepika was surprised by the nuances in not just the script, but also her character,” a source told Pinkvilla. “She’s excited to work with Vanga for the first time.”

What’s Next for Deepika?

Apart from Spirit, Deepika is also rumoured to feature in King, a high-octane action film directed by Siddharth Anand and starring Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan, Arshad Warsi, and Abhishek Bachchan. King is expected to hit theatres in 2026.
