In a rare and candid interview, actress and singer Saba Azad has spoken about her past relationship with fellow artist and bandmate Imaad Shah, revealing how their breakup led to an even stronger friendship. Before her high-profile relationship with actor Hrithik Roshan, Saba was in a long-term partnership with Imaad, and the two have continued to collaborate on music and remain close.

A Breakup That Made Them Stronger

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter India, Imaad Shah described their split as an "evolution rather than an ending." He noted that there was "not much heartache" by the time their romantic relationship officially concluded. Saba shared a similar sentiment, explaining that unless a partner has been abusive, it's impossible to simply stop loving them. "It transforms into something else — a beautiful, platonic friendship where you always have each other's back," she said.

The former couple both admitted that their bond improved significantly after the romantic pressure was lifted. "We often joke that our relationship got better after we broke up," Imaad confessed, to which Saba agreed, saying they became "less judgmental" and "much better friends."

Finding "Normalcy" with Hrithik Roshan

Saba also offered a glimpse into her life with Hrithik Roshan, a relationship that has been a frequent subject of media attention since they went public in 2022. She emphasized that despite the public spotlight, their life together is "normal."

"It’s an assumption that we make that people who are in the public eye don’t lead normal lives," she stated. She added that her life with Hrithik is grounded by friends who "couldn’t give a damn about fame," and that Hrithik, who has been in the public eye for longer, is well-accustomed to the attention.

Saba Azad was last seen in the film Songs of Paradise and continues to perform with Imaad Shah in their band.
